No. The only musical requirement is that you can carry a tune and stay on your part while others are singing something different. Prior choral experience is helpful, even if it was 30 years ago and you were in high school. Mary has a way of finding out what section your voice will fit in without it being embarrassing to you. Please note we memorize our music for each concert.
We rehearse as a full choir every Wednesday from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Calvary Lutheran Church at 39th and Chicago in Minneapolis. There is a parking lot in the back of the church and the entrance door is off the lot. Some extra Saturday morning rehearsals are scheduled throughout the season as are sectional rehearsals. The final week before a concert always includes a dress rehearsal.
We ask that you miss no more than two rehearsals for each major concert and miss no rehearsals during the month prior to a concert.
We want our choir experience accessible to women of all income levels and do not impose a specific membership fee. However, our budget is supported primarily through contributions from choir members. The recommended donation level is $40 per month ($480 per year). We also ask for member participation in volunteer and fundraising activities.
